ME - Martins System Editor 0.82

Freeware for OS/2 and eCS July 2005

                    www.hypermake.com

ME is a substitute for the OS/2 System Editor E.EXE and based
on the WDSibyl tEditor editor object, not on the OS/2 Textbox.
(Aarons Editor is a Sibyl project, too, but also based on the
OS/2 Textbox.)

Some minor details differ from the original E.EXE. If you don't
like some behaviour, I will make some additional user settings.

Please read the bubble help to learn the functionality of the
Top Panel.

The IBM (WIN) Button in the Top Panel of ME should only be used if
extended characters are not shown correctly and the file has got
a Windows Codepage. Otherwise, extended characters get corrupted,
even you turn back to IBM Codepage. That's because internally the
editor always shows the text in IBM Codepage and converts the
content if you switch from IBM to WIN.

ME automatically deletes the ending arrow (^Z) produced by
OS/2 E.EXE.

If you have turned Column Block on (Press NormBlk) and mark
a column of numbers, the numbers gets added and you see the result
in the title bar. Ctrl-U copies the sum to the cursor position.
To mark in column block with keys, simply press the Alt key in
addition to Shift-cursor keys; you'll return to non column block
mode automatically.

ME has got a multi undo functionality: hold the Alt-Backspace
key down. If you type Alt-Backspace once, you'll first get to
the text location where the last input/changes were made.

ME supports Wordstar keycodes and has got a lot of functionality
of his "big brother" WSedit. I will write a documentation later
to explain all functionality which is not directly visible.

Drag and drop (always right Mousebutton) is implemented:
- marked text to another position (press Ctrl for copying,
  otherwise moving)
- marked text area to WPS folder
- WPS icon to text area (default is copying content, press
Shift for copying filename and Ctrl-Shift for copying
  full filename)

A nice feature is the multi trash buffer, an improved feature
of the old Wordstar editor.

Ctrl-Y delete line and put the deleted text to trash buffer
Ctrl-T delete word and put the deleted text to trash buffer
Ctrl-U paste trash buffer content

The trash buffer is not the clipboard.

Sample:
one two five six three four seven

Place the cursor at the beginning of 'five'
press Ctrl-T Ctrl-T
place the cursor at the beginning of 'seven'
press Ctrl-U Ctrl-U

Commandline parameters:

first parameter: filename
second parameter: jump to paragraph number, '5' or 5
If the filename contains spaces, type "file name" or 'file name'.

Planned for the 1.0 release:

- more individual settings (tell me what you need!)
- Printing
- reading/writing ASCII files with Unix and Mac end of line
  coding.
